to make them heat resistant? I have Insulbrite but do I use one layer or two? Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I've never made them before. Making potholders and table pads for GD's bridal shower. Also, making apron to match, or should that be potholders to match apron. Appreciate your input.

No dumb questions (smile). I use two layers of Insulbrite, but that is just me!!

When I made some pot holders I had used a layer of insulbrite BETWEEN 2 layers of batting.

And this is only AFTER I made some using just the one layer of insulbrite and went to use them and burned my hands (not bad) from the heat going through just one layer of the insulbrite.

Thank you for the advice. I was afraid one layer of Insulbrite wouldn't be enough, and didn't think about a layer of batting. Don't want any singed hands or ruined table tops.

at the shop we kit them with one layer of insulbrite and one layer of warm & natural. You place the insulbrite on the side that will be the bottom of the potholder...the pot grabbing side!

I have heard you should use insulbrite with a layer of cotton batting. As Jaci said the warm & natural would work good. crafty_linda_b

thanks for asking this question. I want to make some pot holders for a friend to use in her new house and bought insulbrite because it was recommended but on looking at it, I thought it seemed a bit thin. Now I can get on with this present and know that she will be able to use them safely.
