What's with Kaffe Fassett?
#31
i don't know where i am in the continuum of quilting designations, but the class i took to learn to quilt taught us to deconstruct blocks, make templates and use scissors
we covered strip piecing and rotary cutting a little later in the course, but learning to see the quilt block in its component shapes and then think through how to piece it was invaluable.
i have little to no opinion about kaffe or why he writes the books the way he does. his designs are always just a mile too far for my taste, but his use of colour is inspiring. the books always did seem to me to be about half way between useful and eye candy.
