Those little boxes slowed me waaay down!
Wow, that's a lot of little bitty boxes! Isn't *finishing* something such a great feeling?? Nice job! :)

the first time i wanted to hand quilt a quilt i took the top to the lqs- for advice- and assistance on design and marking- as we were marking the top one of the shop owners said to me---if you quilt for 1 hour a day you can do a queen size quilt in about a year!
    A YEAR---ARE YOU KIDDING ME????
i took it home and machine quilted it!!!
years later i decided to hand quilt a smaller quilt (about 60"square---it took me ...oh maybe 10 hours-
it of course depends greatly on a number of things-
how heavily/densely you are quilting- the design itself---and of course---how quickly you personally stitch- i can bind a queen quilt in about 3-4 hours= so i (think) i have become fairly fast at hand stitching-
it is all relative to the project itself- what takes me 6 hours may take you 2 hours----or 20 hours---it just depends.

You don't want to know. My last quilt - queen sized - took over a year. That was one of the fastest quilts because it wasn't heavily quilted. The quilt before took over two years.

However, I work during the days so I frequently only have an hour at night to quilt, and I don't get as much sewing time during the weekend as I want. I also quilt quite closely. I enjoy it, so I don't mind it all. I get lots of books on tape or listen to music.

My first quilt was a white on white whole cloth and it took me over 4.5 years. I love to hand quilt. I don't mind the time it takes at all.

The one and only quilt I hand quilted finally was finished 7 years after I started. I am FMQ now.

5 years. It was a white-on-white quilt and 1/2 way through I bundled it up and stuck it in my closet until I had the ambition to complete it a couple of years later (and needed more closet space!) :)

For one of my quilts I needed around 1200 hours, scattered over 2 years. On average I need 3 months (with 6 hours per day).

It took me 3 months (almost everyday 4, 5 or 6 hours each)... it was machine pieced but hand quilted - queen size... I stab stitched into oblivion... lol... I liked the oblivious part for a while... but then I bought a new machine.

For a Queen size Double Wedding Ring; it covered approximately 3 months for my personal record.
