What's wrong with this quilt?

It makes me think Asian eating place, not Chirstmas, also.
When blocks are of the alternate itypes of settings as in this quilt or the blocks are alternated, I prefer an odd x odd number of blocks or an even x even number of blocks.
This one is 4 x 5 so it seems a bit off- kilter or off- bslance to me.
But that is a personal preference of mine.

I like it, it's not bad. But not a standout.
I think it's because the red and green are very similar in value, and blend together, and both of them blend into the print. Whereas the yellow is a complete standout.
I think you needed more contrast. The whole thing is too matchy-matchy for my tastes. No life to it. It doesn't look fun.
Maybe if you completely swapped the fabrics. Have the pretty print be the frames and the solids where the print is now. Then you could have highlighted your quilting skills on the solids.
I think there's too much of the floral print. Using it in the border is great. But something else in the smaller squares and the center squares?

I made this quilt because I wanted to do the Warm Wishes pattern. I also wanted to do the 4 patch posy blocks. Ever since I finished this quilt, I have not liked it. Did I choose the wrong solid colors? The whole color scheme looks bad to me. I am not wanting any compliments. I just want some honest critiques about what is wrong with this quilt. It is perfectly usable, so I will probably donate it to a local women's shelter.

Sometimes solids read very flat in a quilt. I think if the yellow had been a small stripe my eyes would move around the quilt more. The fabric matches too well also. The quilt is okay but not memorable. I think if you had different shades and prints it would draw the viewer in more.

In addition to the values being so similar, red & green are complementary colors so you usually don't want to use them in equal portions. If you were to add more green, perhaps in a darker shade (or a lighter tint of red) that would help. Contrast helps to draw the eye to a particular place on the quilt & when you use a basic design without a focal point, the fabric needs to do more work.
I put a couple samples of a gold fabric with a white background in to Paint to show what happens when you cut down on the red & add more contrast.
