Love batiks. I love the way they look, how they feel, not crazy about price now days. I have a pretty good stash, not as much as I use too, made a 120 x 120 quilt with my stash so that used up a lot of it. Like just about any color, my favorite is a red that is on the back side of the quilt, just a square, but it is sooo pretty. My avatar is made out of batiks also and the border is one of my favorites too. Have bought some on ebay too and someone on one of the message boards sent me quite a bit just because I posted how I loved them and she had won some in a raffle and she wasn't a batik lover. Very nice of her to do that and nearly everything she sent was just beautiful.

What Joyce said. Totally impulse. And have NO neutrals/background batiks. Here's what I've got:

My batick stash is from a friend who was making a
quilt for the first time and she gave me her scraps!!!
I plan on making a stained glass project with them.

plan ahead... Nope don't do that. My batiks I bought cause they were pretty, LOL, I just wanted them. Wow, if I actually planned a project and then bought the fabric, I would have no stash!

I mostly like the one color batiks. I discovered them shortly after I started quilting, so that's most of my stash! so pretty to look at, I hate to cut them up.

Love batiks and have quite a bit built up in my stash. No pattern in mind yet, just love collecting them for someday :-)

I pick up batiks at random mostly. I have prints and more solids but I love them all. One of my problems is I tend to pick the darker ones. I am now looking and purchasing some that are lighter tones!

Did you have a project in mind when you bought them?

Do you have mostly "prints" or mostly "solids"? Do you favor those with mostly one color-family in them, or ones with a greater number of different colors in them?

Most of my batiks are prints and purchased just because I loved them. I have a lot of red/orange/yellow, blue/green/purple, and black/whites/grey...and a pretty good selection of brown/creams. Oh, guess that means I have pretty much some of all the main colors! I love batiks.

I have everything, though I noticed that I too tend to shy away from the neutrals. I also buy the Bali Pops, in fact. I love those. I just took a workshop with Judy Niemeyer and she uses batiks for her patterns.

Beverlys has 5 different Bali Pops packs right now for a really good price.
