I use a dry iron when I assemble the blocks, when the top is finished then steam. Also starch the blocks and use a dry iron to help starch dry.

A little steam is good for me. I press, but I don't iron or push on the fabric...that's what stretches it!

I like steam, but only put the iron straight down on the fabric and not slide it back and forth. I think that is what can destort it.

Ditto. My iron has surprised(?) me previously with spots from the steam and now I iron dry with the help of spray water or starch.

I steam to get wrinkles out of large areas and on seams but not steam on borders...they can stretch a bit with steam.

No steam, it can streach your fabric and shrink it.
