When is the best time of year to buy a sewing machine?
I've really got my eye on the Brother Dreamweaver machine and was wondering if anyone is familiar with shops and such and would know when the best sales are offered. Before Christmas or after? Thanks for any help!

I go to the International Quilt Festival in Houston, the last weekend of October or first WE of Nov each year. At the show, the major vendors offer deals on machines. Is there a major show coming up anywhere near you? If there is, I would make sure I knew what the dealers wanted for the machine, and then go to the show. The local dealers will either be there or will often make you the same deal you could get at the show.
The other option is to ask the dealers when there will be sales. Maybe they will tell you.
ps....I love the new machine too. By next year, I hope to have one.

I agree with Barb. I bought both of my Bernina on the last day of a major show. The vendors would rather discount them at the show since they are now considered used and they don't have to pack them up and bring them back to their store. That is called a motivated seller !!

Great idea! I had forgotten about the shows. Not one near here (West Virginia)until spring, but I have more time than money. I have the Brother QC1000 and it is a wonderful machine...but the Dreamweaver has looked really good since it came out. Many thanks!

Try and find an event; like Floriani or John Deer, any that uses the Brother machines. I've even seen the Dreamweaver at Babylock's serger event because the sew n vac sells them. The deals are awesome. That's how I got my Ovation Serger and my Viking 5D Pro software at a great price. Even my diamond deluxe machine had been at Vikings training event and was sold to dealers as being gently used. It came with all the luggage and full warranties and classes.

We have the Hampton Roads quilt festival in Feb each yr at the Hampton Collesium and Tidewater Sew n Vac, which is all over this area sponsers lots of events using Brother machines. They have a website, sign up for emails and you'll get notified of up coming things. Not sure what part of WV you are from but some areas its not a bad drive. I can make it to my sisters in less than 7 hours.

Thanks for the advice! I will see if there are events while I'm at my son's house over the holidays...they have a Brother dealer right down the road. None within hours of my house. And I will check out the Hampton Roads Festival too, sounds fun. I live in the WV panhandle ( about 60 minutes from DC) so it wouldn't be a bad trip to Hampton Roads.

In addition to following the advice of others in this thread, you should talk to your local Brother dealer to see what sort of deal you could get on a used Dreamweaver. Believe it or not, there are a fair number of people trading up for the new Dream Machine. I turned in my less than two-year-old Dreamweaver as a trade-in towards mine since they gave me almost what I paid for it to begin with. I know they won't sell it for that much and that part of the trade-in value was just bargaining down on the price of the new machine. They have lots of used fairly recent models available now, particularly the big dealers, due people doing this same thing.
