Is it ok to mix a meander stitch with other stitches? I know you can do one design in the sashing, one on the border one in the blocks to accentuate certain parts and designs etc.. But I see a meander as an all over type stitch. Could I do a large meander on the body of my quilt but do straight stitch with a walking foot in the border to frame the quilt? Is this against "quilt etiquette," or is it just up to me?

Actually, the more accenting you do with different stitches, the more interesting it will be. Go for it! Let the quilt tell you what it wants.

Each person will "see" a quilt differently. So what you think a quilt needs is just fine. There are no rules for quilting....what looks good to you is great.

I do it all the time. I meander the body, do a wave or shell stitch in the first border and if 2 borders in the last one I put hearts or leaves with vines. It like frames my center which is the point behind borders I think.
