I don't have "scraps." My fabric is all sorted by color, so the small pieces go back with their fabric color cousins.

I do the same although I have a few fat quarters with just a bit cut off of them still in my fat quarters drawer. Then again, when I go to grab one it's disappointing when it isn't whole so I should probably take them out.

I do flower applique, so I have several trays of fabric scraps sorted by color. The fabrics are spread out on the trays so that I can see what I have and the trays just sit inside double dresser drawers in my sewing room.

If anything gets between 3/4- 1/2 yrd size I move it to my fat quarter bin. I can get two FQs and a piece for the scrap bin. Anything smaller than a yard is to small for the min stash and will get lost if I don't re locate it to the small bins.

When I'm cutting fabric, I see what is left by laying it across the cutting board. Or if I'm using my June Tailor Shape cut I can see how much fabric is left and go from there. I only put yardage on my comic boards unless I have alike pieces of more than a yard and mark it.

Used to keep scraps until there was I had no more room. Now I give all my scraps to a couple of ladies I quilt with every week. They love them, sort them by color, size and goodness knows what else. It keeps them happy and I'm happy cuz I don't have to deal with sorting and storing anymore.

I think I fall into this category. When I cut out pieces for a quilt, I keep what is left in a large ziploc bag "until the quilt it finished." But the thing is that I never move the fabric after the quilt is finished. So I have this huge container full of bags of "matched" scraps -- or larger. Daisydawg, I think you have the right idea!
