    Default When I was young....

When I was a little girl my parents were divorced. I was devastated. The only comfort I had was a red and white quilt that my fathers grandmother made for him was left behind, so I claimed it and slept with it every night. The pattern remind me of a round saw blade...dad was a carpenter, so they seemed to go together.
He was born in 1914..must have been an old pattern and probably paper pieced. His sister walked off
with the quilt when he died. Would love to make one similar to it. Can anyone tell me the pattern name? Thank you.

I remember seeing a block in a circular with half square triangles around the edge but could not find anything on Google. Can you try to draw the patterns and post a photo??

Does anything ring a bell here?

Could it have been a Dresden plate made up in red and whites?

Hopefully the amazing minds here will be able to help you find the block. Love the link that ManiacQuilter2 posted and I too thought of the Dresden Plate. The other possibility might be the Pickle and Rings quilt block (also called Pickle Dish Quilt I think)

Let us know if you find something that looks like what you remember!!

the current issue of F&P has a quilt on the cover that looks like round saw blade. The quilt's name is "Fond Memories", maybe it's an omen? Here's a picture. I think they sell acrylic templates for this one.

If it's a old pattern it might be a Kansas City Star one. I think there is abook of all their patterns available somewhere? You could also try looking through the blocks at quilterscache/quilt blocks galore.

Could it be a "carpenter's wheel" (hope that's the right name)?
