For anyone going to Paducah, be sure to check the Quilt in a Day web site for your 30% off one item coupon. There are three different places that it's good at--maybe even one per place.

People do seem to be more easy going in the South.

I will be at the Paducah show, too. Eleanor Burns usually has a tent set up at the fair grounds and has demonstrations. I know many who have attended, I have not gone myself to see her, but "they" all say she is fun to watch, especially in person.

Eleanor has tent sales at the fairgrounds and puts on a free show twice a day. She is in her barn always signing books when not engaged in part of the quilt show. She never looks tired or bored not even after the 200th book signing and picture taking of the day. She isn't behind a table or or barricaded off, she's right there in the mix with you. Her shop downtown Paducah has the designer fabric lines, the tents have the fabric frenzy sales. The barn is full of her patterns, completed quilts, gifts, notions, books, and her staff. Her son is always at the tents and he's extremely easy on the eyes! and very friendly just like his mother.

She's far funnier in person than on her show. I saw her last year.

I went to the Paducah store just down the street from the museum. They were very nice and the prices weren't too bad, I got a bunch of fat quarters. Just missed she and her son at the Lancaster quilt show, but did use the 30% off coupon and got the hardcover book, "Still Stripping after 25 years". Hubby wouldn't let me pay to go back to the show the next day just to get her signature....sigh. I really like the book, I think the instructions are the most thorough I've ever seen, lots of pics. Spaced throughout are bits and pieces of the Eleanor Burns story, she is a really gutsy lady! (aren't all quilters ;-) )

Is it Carlson Park where she has one of her shops set up and also a big tent? Anyway it's the park in Paducah that's part of the quilt show event. That's where she does a show and I met her there. Right after her show she goes into the bldg, near the back and signs book. So if you're there, leave the show about 15 minutes early, grab one of her books, ask where she's going to sign and stake out your spot at the head of the line. Once that show lets out a HUGE line forms in a heartbeat.
