    the best stitch length to be using ?
    I worry about how hard it will be to rip out if needed.

    do you think I should start with 2.5 if this is my first time to make it easier to fix errors.

    depends on what your default setting is on your machine.
    Many are 2.5. So start with the setting the comes up when you fire up the machine. I then usually adjust one click larger. Gives same strength and is easier to rip out and actually goes faster.

    this is a 1992 New Home nothing fancy machine...
    does it even have a default ??
