I won my 1946 Featherweight in a Shop Hop last August. It was the grand prize. What a surprise!

Until I joined this board I didn't know about Featherweights. I remembered that an antique dealer friend of mine had given me a machine over 30 years ago. I had kept it in a closet and moved it around. It didn't work and I had 2 Berninas a Nova and 1080. When I saw it on here, I dug it out and it is in perfect condition with original oil, owners manual, accessorie feet. My Bernina dealer QS guy went crazy when I took it to him. He is now putting it in tip top shape it is a 221 100th anniversary edition 1951. Thank you for cluing me in.

I got my first one just a few months ago from a guy in SF who's mom was a sewing teacher. She taught him to sew and gave him this FW. It's banged up but runs well!

I taught both of my kids to machine sew on it! I learned to free motion quilt on it. Just the other day I was piecing on my brother machine and it kept getting stuck on the edges of my pinwheels. I finally switched to the fW and it sewed over them like nothing.

I bought another on EB and got another at a garage sale. The garage sale one needs new paint and decals! The EB one was from an estate sale and it was old and dirty, but complete.

I'm ready to sell the others and spend my money on fabric... for quilting!

About 3-4 years ago, I was finally able to win an auction for 1 1983 one on e-Bay. (unsuccessful bidder for about 1/2 dozen times) Got it for about $180 and paid about $37 to have the wiring on the foot-pedal re-done and the machine serviced. Love sewing with that little machine - purrs like a kitten and does perfect 1/4" seams. Still looking for a treadle like my Grandma used to have.

I inherited my mother's Featherweight and the wooden card table that came with it. I believe it a 1954 I also have the sale receipt for it. Then a couple years ago I found a featherweight in a junk store. I paid $75 for it, took it to the local machine fixer, he cleaned and oiled it and wanted to buy it, but I had other ideas, took it home and took pictures of it and put it on eBay.Would you believe I got $556 for it on ebay. Shipped it all the way to Oregon, customer paid that I have two other machines in my garage I must drag them outand see if I can sell them, I have several machines including a long arm

My mom bought me one 3 years ago, I had hand sewn three quilts by then. Decieded I wanted to continue to sew. It has been very good to me. My mom is totally amazed that I self taught me to FMQ with it. Have sence been gifted a brand new brother that I use for fancy stiches, and FMQ once in a while.

I bought mine last year in Paducah from a friend of a friend. May have spent too much ($400) but is 1946 with scrollwork and in excellent condition with atchs. She sews great.

Mine came from Gram to mother to a cousin. He was named for an uncle lost in WW2. I had Uncle Billy's wings and he had the FW so we traded. It's complete with case and attachments and it's a centennial model. It also has the most awful musty smell which I am going to get out using Odor Eaters. A tip I got from the board. Haven't tried it yet but will in the next few days.

I bought mine from the QB from CGAIL last December. DH wanted to know why I wanted a toy machine.
After I demoed how it sewed, he was convinced they were more than cute.

My Featherweight has been in my home for two years now. She came to live with us after I found her in a Craigslist ad in an area two and a half hours north of us. The woman I bought it from had paid considerably more than the $250 she charged me. Though I would have loved to have gotten her for a lower price like the $25, $35 finds I hear about. I was happy to get her for $250, kind of the going price around here.

My DH and I returned to the same place a week later where we bought two handcrank machines from the lady and also some really neat wood for my DH woodworking. Two pleasant road trips with great finds for us.

FWs hum like no other machine. I love it. :-D
