Quick question. I've decided to applique some homespun kitchen towels for Christmas presents. I did one at camp this past week, but would like to do more. What stores do you recommend for buying several homespun towels (close to a dozen) and what is a good price per towel that I should be paying?

    Thanks!

I'd suggest getting some homespun fabric and hemming them up yourself. You'll have more variety in colors and prints to choose from and it'll be cheaper than premade ones. I've done this and enjoyed being able to coordinate the fabric w the colors in the applique or embroidery design.

Do you know of any in particular that are online that have a decent towel? I've not seen any in Joann's, Hancocks, or Hobby Lobby - do these stores have them? I'm going to try to get to my local quilt store, but I'm not sure that they carry them or that the price is good.

Do these homemade towels hold up okay and are good to actually use and not just display?

    thanks!

one of our lqs carry them-- they are $3.39 apiece and very nice towels.
some quilt shops do carry them- usually the shops that tend to specialize in reproduction type fabrics/thimbleberries
i (think) the towels here are from marcus brothers- but i might be mistaken.
go down the list of shops on the 'fabshophop' you are bound to find a dozen or so shops that carry them.

You might also check in your local True Value hardware store. They usually have a great housewares department and have the homespun towels.

Why don't you try a Google search for homespun kitchen towels? I think you'll find some there.

You may want to try fabricdepot.com, I seem to remember them sending out an email for toweling by the yard, all you would have to do is hem them...may be a cost effective way to go...Good luck
