where to buy quilting thread
Hi Quilters! Where do you buy your quilting threads for your long arms? What weight # do you buy? What is your color shade most used?
I need to buy thread for my sit down LA and I am just starting with it really, so I can't buy much with Christmas around the corner, but I need thread to make Christmas!-lol

Hey, Toogie... i use Glide thread and order it through Bold Notion Quilting (40wt). You can order individually or sign up for the Thread of the Month program like i did at a discount. https://boldnotionquilting.com/

I buy Superior, directly online from them. I mostly use SoFine #50, but also like their MicroQuilter and Bottomline (both finer than #50 and great for when you do lots of quilting) and their Magnifico (like Glide).
I like to match fabric and thread so have way too many colors--but mostly use either black, charcoal, med gray or lite gray, off-white or tan, or white the most.
Oh, I also use Superior's Monopoly, usually the light one, if there's something like applique that I don't want thread to show or if the fabric is just so multi-color that no one color blends.

I use Superior's Bottom Line and MicroQuilter when I want a finer thread, but for most quilting I use trilobal poly threads that I buy from Metroemb - https://metroemb.com/store/index.php?route=common/home. I use lots of colors when quilting.

I too buy So Fine from Superior Thread but was very disappointed in one of the threads I bought recently. I never had this happen before so didn’t know what to do however when you’re trying to finish a quilt and you wind up with thread that literally split no matter what I did I just changed to a different one. It was one of the Fantastico 40 wt threads.

I buy most of my quilting thread from Superior Threads. Basic colors I use most are light and medium gray, cream/ natural and white. I’ve found that lavender seems to blend into many fabrics well too. I then do have plenty of colors but those would depend on what you are mostly doing. I would start with a couple cones of basic- gray & either a natural or white
