I buy it at Office Depot, but I'm sure the other stores have it as well. i don't know how big you need your sheets, but I usually get the 11x17 pad of 50 pages, and then cut the pieces in half (using the cutter at the copy center in the store) so I have 100 sheets. I think the pad is $16
If you're not putting it through the copier, the tracing paper is cheaper.
Nancy's Notions used to have a 100 page pack for $10 that I would buy at shows - it was always the best deal around.
ah, I see they still sell them online:

That's the best deal...but then there's shipping and waiting. ;-)

Hobby Lobby carries vellum. When I got into paper-piecing, I liked newsprint. Found a company in California that sold it by the bundle. I ended with 1,000 sheets for under $25 including s/h. Prints fine in my printer, too.

I realized you said you want it because it is transperant, but cost wise, you can get the newsprint at Office Depot online for 500 sheets for $5 plus shipping.....I tried to go into the local store, but they didn't stock it.
Carol Doak's is 10 cents a sheet and OD is about a penny a sheet.....
I've never seen any vellum for that low.

I bought a ream (500 pages) of lightweight vellum when it was on sale here: http://www.paperplus.com/productdeta...p?bvn=10016356 It's not on sale now but it's a low price for that much. A ream will last you forever!
