Make sure that before you double fold your fabric to start cutting, that you have it even at the left edge, then when you do start to cut, hold down on Your ruler top firmly, so your fabric doesn't shift.
I don't know how I cut strips befor I found the June Taylor shape cutter, but it is wonderful.

I saw the same show spiffy is talking about and I too liked that ruler she was using. It was not the JT Shape Cut or the Shape Cut Pro. It was a square---looked to be at least 20 X 20 and only had the 2 1/2 inch slits. I thought it would be really neat since you cut so many 2 1/2 strips but haven't been able to find that particular ruler either. Must not be made any more.

I have 2 different styles of the June Tailor tools. I love them & have used them for strip cutting, cutting bias, & also fringe on fleece or rag quilts. Nancy zieman has a short video on cutting the fleece using this tool, which was faster then how I used to do it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bSLBVCCuv6s.
I bought one @ walmart (before the 2008 crash which has caused my local store to get rid of everything sewing & crafting), the other @ Joann's with a 50% off coupon. I never paid over $20 for either. One is about 24" square, so covers the WOF folded once. The second is a diamond cut. Even though the big ruler has the markings, I saw a neat demo @ a quilt show on folding a fabric back for a border & this was cheaper & more versatile to do the same concept. If I find the link I will post it.

Elenor Burns sells them herself at her shop and I think you can only get it on line and I think its a June Taylor but the big one. Saw it at the show here last fall in her booth was 69.00 I believe.
