This morning I was reading the posts via digest. I saw a picture of a purse and for some reason I thought it was called 'ButterNut Purse'. There was a link to download a free pattern. Now, I can't find the original post and when I search for butternut purse, I still can't find it. That's obviously not the name of it. It has a paisley band and a brown suede looking body of the bag.

I can't wait until I get really old and stupid.....................

I didn't see the topic today, but a few people have posted a picture and link for "The Buttercup Bag". Perhaps this is what you were looking for.

Ah... The ButterCup Bag - not ButterNut. I did find it and printed out the directions. It will now rest on the pile of other things I'm going to do some day.
    Thanks.

That's my bag...I'm glad you like it! I love it! I get many compliments on it too. It works up very quickly. I think I made it in about 2 hours. I'm going to make a black one soon. I already bought the fabric...now if I could only get some more free time! :)

I do, indeed, love your purse. The colors are a great combination. What kind of stabilizer did you use, if any?

    Thanks.

    Thanks.

On the trim at the top, I used Decor Bond fusible stabilizer to give it more body. I think any heavyweight fusible would be fine. I used fusible fleece (pellon) on the lining and in the strap. I trimmed away a bit so it would just get caught in the stitching of the lining. For the strap, just one piece the finished size of the strap. The suede like fabric I used for the outer part of the bag was a little heavier, so I did not put anything on it. I also added a 2nd (larger) pocket on the other side.
