Where do you buy backing fabric?

Christianlanequilters.com will also send you samples of their fatbacks. On the computer it is hard to get an accurate sense of the color. When I got their samples I was amazed at the difference from my monitor.

also, for some of the charity quilts, i have purchased used sheets frm goodwill or thrift stores...especially the flannels...just double check for thin spots by holding them up to a light.

Although I personally love to piece my backing from either scraps from the top or from fabrics in my stash, I can buy backing fabrics at the local Mennonite stores for $4.50/yd if she has ones she's wanting to clear out or about $6 regularly.

I had to have a dinner for 24 (don't ask) and bought three chunks of JoAnn's 108 backing on sale to make the tablecloths for three tables. Worked great and washed just as well. Maybe I'll put them on homey quilts someday but they do make great tablecloths!
