My ironing board. I made a washable cover so when it gets gross I can just toss it in the wash

Do you always starch before you sew? I never heard of starching - but sometimes I just don't pay attention.

For big pieces I lay an old sheet on my basement floor, lay the fabric on the sheet and spray.

For smaller pieces, I just starch it right on the ironing board. My cover needs a washing soon...

Where do YOU starch your fabric at?
I cover my ironing board with muslin that can be taken off and washed. I spread either muslin or painters plastic over everything the spray might reach. I also sit down to press. My board is located right behind my sewing table. I turn my swivel chair around to press then back around to sew. The board is located against an inside wall with the plastic behind it and enough to pull out from underneath when starching and kick under when not. Is this clear as mud?

I always wash my material. When it has run through the wash and rinse cycle, I run it through just a rinse cycle and put in liquid starch.
