I just got done watching Fons and Porter and I'm wondering what happened to Liz, she hasn't been on the show for a long time. The show is now being done by Maryanne and her daughter.

She's retired and has moved closer to family in Texas.

Apparently Liz has retired to Texas, so she could spend time with her grandchildren. The show just isn't the same without her, and the main sponsor is Janome, not Bernina.

I miss her too. I hope she enjoys her retirement and family time.

Actually, the new sponsor is Babylock.

I don't see the new shows lasting on TV. They just aren't the same and I don't enjoy watching them like I did with Liz there. It seems like everyone feels this way. I can't say as I have heard anything positive from anyone.

I like watching Marianne and her daughter sewing together. Since Mary is a relatively new quilter, they really cover a lot of things for newer quilters, and I think it is more useful for all levels of quilters now. Good luck to Liz, as I know I would love to retire and spend more time with my grandkids.

On the POSITIVE side, this is one of the only remaining TV quilting shows...why would any of us wish it away? I think Marianne is just a delightful quilter, and she makes really nice quilts.

You are right the sponsor is Babylock, must have had a senior moment!

I only saw one episode with the daughter, but it was a good show for beginners, and had some good reminders for the rest of us. Most of the other episodes had a guest quilter of some sort, showing different techniques. I have to admit that I prefer the shows with Marianne and Liz, but I agree with jljack -- why wish one of the few on TV away.

I'm glad that there's a positive reason for Liz not being on the show. I was afraid that maybe they had had a falling out. I wish her great times with her grandkids. If I could afford it, I'd be in NC with mine!
