This may have come up before but I wondered after looking at the big stashes being found in thrift stores and garage sales, where will our stashes go? I read about having a will and passing it on to where you want it to go...all those machines, tools, bolts, yardage, scraps, fat quarters, jelly rolls, books magazines, unfinished tops, unfinished blocks, lace, buttons, bindings, long arms, thread, tables, ott lights, shall I stop there?
I don't think I can "take it with me" (see, I still have a little hope that I can! LOL) and I'm not sure if I want someone to send it to Goodwill, or a yard sale! I am going to make a list and talk to my family about this and have a plan. Then I can rest in peace.....what is YOUR plan?

Interesting topic... mine who knows, would rather it not end up at sallys, Have and were honored to be thought of, by 3 quilters, Then the question becomes what to do with it all, these were an assortment of textiles, Some went to groups that will do somthing with it, have made bags, quilts for people, I always make sure they know that some of the deceased stash is included, especially if it is a relative who they were fond of. :)

That is a really good question. I know my daughter has said a few times I should sell more of my quilts otherwise she will just have to put them on ebay when the time comes. Part of me hopes that she was joking, but the other part is not so sure. What do you do with all the machines, fabric, projects (complete and WIP)? I don't think they would let you dig a grave deep enough for it all and besides it is way to much money to put in a hole. I probably have $40,000 in machines and quilts alone.

I won't care where it goes when I'm singing with the angels.

Enough of my family/friends are into sewing/quilting that I'm sure they'll have a blast figuring out what to do with it all. I don't think they'll do like a friend's FIL did and stick it all in the garage and refuse to let anyone touch it for 20 years just because it was mine! Hopefully they'll play nice and everybody will get what they want and find a good home for the rest.

My husband is under strict instruction to give it to my mom, if she is around (she will most likely outlive me with my illness) or give it to the local guild. They will find good homes where it will be loved, fondled, and used!

It's already in my will, sad to say, it was one of the first things I thought about when doing my will. I keep a file box of everyone that I have done a swap with,(screen name, name, addy etc) or who has sent me fabric just because they are kind. These are the people who will recieve my fabric stash & everything else, divided up equally.I do it this way so I know it will go to a good home!
