FINALLY got to hook up the stitch regulator, and loaded a baby quilt for a test run.
Broke a needle right off the bat. Forgot to put the pressure foot down, and got a bird's nest on the back, which caused the needle to snap. Duh.
Then I noticed the stitch length wasn't quite as consistent as I thought it should be. Whenever I'd move the needle away from me, the stitches got larger. Hmmm. DH was behind the machine, and when I told him what it was doing, he saw that one of the wheels on the stitch regulator wasn't getting enough contact whenever I'd move the machine backwards. Simple temporary fix: pull down on the handles a little bit to make the wheel touch ... which made it easier on my shoulders anyway, because I have to use it sitting down. DH is going to look at it more closely after while. Probably just a simple adjustment.
The rest of the baby quilt went without a hitch. I meandered all over it, making loops and swirls.
DH ... who'd given me "The Eyeball" earlier this week for splurging on fabric ... just FLEW to Walmart to see if he could find some more backing material and batting. He's just as excited as I am!
(LOL ... and now he's snapping pictures at the store with his cell phone and texting them to me so I can choose the ones I want. He's such a wonderful guy. :) )
Oh! I forgot to post an update about the missing software. The guy finally wrote me back, and now says that they're out of stock and that the software is on backorder. Would've been nice if he'd told me that to begin with. He didn't give an estimated arrival date. Hopefully it won't be long.
Anyway, I'm THRILLED with my new quilting machine and frame!

QuiltCAD Quilting Pattern Software
Grace Gooseneck Lamp and Brite White Bulb Combo
Grace Start Right Cloth Leader Set
Organ Needles for Juki TL98 Series Machines
20 Quilt Machine Metal Bobbins
2 Boxes of Thread
40 Universal Needles for my regular sewing machine (I needed some anyway)
Pressing that button was skeery. Whew. I'm normally super-thrifty, so I'm kind of freaked out. LOL! But that's a lot of money that took ages to save up. My "piggy bank" sure is scrawny now. I did find a coupon code that took $100 off the price, and got free shipping ($174 value), so that helped a lot!
Now that the skeery button has been pressed, I can't wait to get everything! Hopefully in a few days I'll be able to quilt all these quilt tops that have piled up, and not have to struggle with my regular sewing machine!
I hope our bank doesn't spazz out when that gigantic amount comes through. Hubby went this morning to transfer the money, and told them to expect the transaction. Our bank has a super-picky fraud system, which is good to some extent, but a few months ago they locked down our account when we made two $100-ish purchases at Walmart within about an hour (groceries & a DVD player that was paid for separately in the electronics department). Grrr! Crazy, huh? It was on a weekend, and we couldn't get ahold of them until Monday to confirm that yes, the transactions were legit. Luckily we had some cash onhand, but it sure was frustrating. Anyway, hopefully with the advance notice, everything will go through okay! :)
