I have used polished cotton in some quilts and couldn't tell the difference.
Use whatever you want.

My daughter made a quilt, about 20 years ago and the background fabric was a polished cotton. She was quite busy at the time with a business and I offered to hand quilt it for her. It was the hardest fabric I have every quilted.
It was pretty; but never again!

I love polished cotton. Don't see it around much. When my 2nd son was 2 I made him a simple twin size quilt with a deep blue polished cotton & a soft white. He's now 33 & that quilt has traveled around the world with him & still has held up.

I absolutely love polished cotton/chinz. Have used it in my quilts, with no problems and really find it hard to get anymore.
