I only use my walking foot for sewing binding and quilting or any time I am working with batting. Do not use for piecing.

I definitely would not do without the walking foot on my Bernina 440. Bought the new stitch in the ditch sole for my walking foot and love it-no puckers at all.

If it puckers, it is not working correctly.
Great idea to use it for curtains - I'm going to try it the next time I do long strips. But uh-oh I'm addicted to my 1/4" foot... I've only been using it for sandwiched stuff for SITD, straight-line and binding. Since I dont fmq it gets a lot of use,

I was taught to use one when quilting the sandwich. It works fine on my Janome, helps feed the fabric through consistently. I don't use it for piecing or anything else.

You'll be happy to know I am going to a class at a different quilt shop Monday night and WALKING FOOT IS REQUIRED.

If I learn anything more about how to use it - reduced presser foot tension, etc, I will report back. I love the one I bought for my Janome except that it loosens itself up and I have to keep the screwdriver at hand

Use mine all the time for my Janome 10000. It works great.

I have only been quilting for . .I guess it has been a couple years now - boy time goes by so fast! I have a very inexpensive Brother Project Runway machine and have a generic walking foot from Joannes. Works like a charm. I love it.

I use one on my Viking 550 when quilting with decorative stitches and SID. Keeps the back from shifting and getting puckers.
