I've made a couple and have a couple under construction!

I'm not a traditional quilter. I gravitate to landscapes/art quilts, crazy quilts, strings, applique...just anything without those tiny little pieces you cut out and sew back together in the same pattern block after block after block. I don't think I've ever managed to make more than 3 traditional quilt blocks in a row - even string blocks are so repetitive I have to force myself to make them after the first 4 or 5. But I can play with pieces of a landscape for hours and never get bored - try different techniques, cut different shapes, dig thru my fabric searching for just the right piece for a wall!! Fun, fun, fun!

If you want to try landscape quilting and haven't done it before, check out some of Sue Pritt's patterns/kits at Sweet Seasons Quilts http://sweetseasonquilts.com/ Her "Up North" pattern was the first one I did and it was so much fun. She recently did a workshop in my area and was awesome about helping us learn the process. It's a lot easier than you would expect and so much fun. I just did the "Over East" pattern into a lap quilt for my parents and had a blast with it! Sue's patterns are a great way to get started. I'm currently in the process of designing an Adirondack Scene wallhanging for my husband's office.

    Shelly, that's really cute!

I LOVE making landscape/seascape/portrait quits!! I've done them using several different techniques. The last one was really the most fun. I drew a design on muslin, & then using color crayons just colored it like a in a coloring book. Then, (using a very old iron & a few sheets of paper) ironed out the wax. Then I did a raw edge applique technique & some thread painting over my picture. It actually came out pretty good. I have already started another one that way. It's easier & less messy than using paint or dye, & more colorful than a transfer meant to be totally covered up.

    Oh wow.
I just went back thru all the other posts & found more pics. ddrobins, & allthumbs & janice those are all so nice! I love that 'last leaf of the season' idea. & looking at that pic, I can't see any mistakes. besides.....it's not possible to make mistakes in art quilts....is it? only 'happy accidents' or 'design features'.....right?
