My magic wand - it comes originally from my husband's toolbox, and is an extendable wand with a magnetic tip. I have a massive pin problem (they always end up all over the floor however hard I try to keep them in the box), and this means that I can pick them up without having to resort to my knees. They are about the size of an ordinary pen, cost about £1.99 and I have bought them for everyone I know that sews. Brilliant.

Oh and all the other stuff that everyone else has mentioned...

Lighting, lighting, lighting, and did I mention lighting? Oh, there is one other small thing...I've almost lived without a decent sewing center for years, and finally decided enough was enough. So...I bought a new Perfexxion last week and am still trying to clean up and make room for it! It's going to be wonderful when I finally get everything like I want it!

My Accuquilt Go. Perfectly cut quilt pieces in minutes. And the tool I can't quilt without is my debit card.

I also have a magnetic wand that I bought at Harbor Freight - love it!!!!! I am anal when it comes to pins and needles on the floor. Gotta get them up right away or sure as God made little green apples, they will end up in my feet - Hey, it happened. I had to pull a needle out of a bone in my foot with a pliers! I lived, but I will never be the same again! Lost a needle the other day. Scoured my sewing area up one side and down the other, vacuumed up the floor three times, kept the dog out of the area. I found it! It was in the quilt I was tying down. Thank God. I did find it though! Edie

I love my 1x6 Omnigrid ruler. Never sew without it right there.
