Super cool quilt on your avatar.

I prewash everything washable - and square up each component/unit as I go - and things usually turn out the expected size and shape without blocking.

And they stay that way after washing - without any blocking.

The only fabric stretching I do now is with the ironing board cover that came with my Big Board - it was VERY SKIMPY and I have to put it back on the board almost wet to have it be barely large enough. And with some cushion covers that I didn't have enough sense to shrink the fabric before making them. They were "roomy" before I washed them. Now they are tighter than skin tight!
