Why do the binding by hand?

I usually hand stitch to the back.
On charity quilts I sometimes pull the binding to the front and use a 'wave' looking stitch on the front. It will catch both quilt and binding in an easy manner. It leaves a little textured look to the binding.

I don't care to hand sew so I attach all bindings by machine. Like others have said, sew to front, flip to back and SITD. My quilts are all meant to be used and I figure they'll be washed regularly. I think machine stitiching is more durable and stronger than my hand quilting.

I've done machine method, and still do for some things, but I mainly do the sew to front, flip to back and hand sew because I think it looks nicer. Takes a long time, yes, but looks nicer.
