I buy quite a few fat quarters. Some patterns don't really require that much of a particular color. They are also good for when you need just a little bit of a color in applique. I love all the colors and I thinkI have hundreds

That's kind of my thought - 3 yds or nothing. FQ's do give a variety, but I have figured how much some of them cost by the yard and it's way too high for me!!!!!

I do alot of Bonnie Hunters quilt and others that are scrap happy ,we live in a RV fulltime and I don't have alot of room for fabric so for me the fQ's work great I have two totes that I can keep them in
when I do a big quilt with just 3 or 4 fabrics I just go buy than, not ahead of time it works out pretty good

I love your australian fabric quilt. I have been collecting those fabric for awhile. Did you use a pattern? What size are your blocks? All of your quilts are beautiful.

I bought my first two fat quarters last week to make cell phone pouches. Even a fat quarter was more fabric than I needed and the prints were exactly what I was looking for. Today I couldn't find a fat quarter print I liked as well as a by the yard piece I found. At my local JoAnne's fat quarters are $1.99. I got a half yard of my yardage for $2.50 at reg. price. That was an extra .50 for twice the amount of fabric. Seemed like a better deal to me.

I love fat quarters---for some inexplicable reason---I am just crazy for them and then I like to either find some way to mix and match them, or just hang on to them "in case". I have three sets of rolling plastic drawers which are perfect for FQ's, usually they are filled to bursting, but times being what they are, I have dipped into my "savings" stash to make various projects!
