Now I'm hooked. Some days I just go into my sewing room and.... putter. For hours. Some days I sew a little too.

    <sigh> I'm pathetic.... ! lol!
    WOW!!!
A 20' TRUCK LOAD???? Can I come to your house and play?
    I'm not drooling...I'm not drooling
Yes... well... my mom used to work for YEARS in the fabric department of Grants Department store. I STILL have Grant's fabric, WITH the tags! (5 yards for $1.10, etc.) All hand written and carefully pinned to the fabrics with straight pins. My mom got a discount, you see and she sewed all our clothing. We're talking 50's and 60's I think. Wools, "the new wonder fabric - Rayon!", Dacron, lots and lots of cottons, silks. She also gave me box upon box of old cross stitch kits for bedspreads, pillowcases, tapestry sized scenes, aprons, bridge sets; embroidery things, crafting kits, tools, jewelry findings, settings, stones and just about every type of craft imaginable. No one else in the family wanted them. A shame really.
Well, you could adopt me.....then we'd be family.....THEN you could...SHARE

Because I can make something and not worry about how it fits - unlike clothes making!

I started quilting because I didn't think I could. I have always been in awe of the beautiful quilts I've seen. I would've bought every one of them too if my bank account would allow it.
I quilt because I love them so. I love the feeling of making something from start to finish and the happiness it brings to the person it's given to. It makes me happy and I can hear my late husband telling me "you need to go and sew something pretty" He loved me quilting as much as I love doing it.

I love everything about quilting. The colors, feel of the fabric and then when it is complete the knowelege that you have created something wonderful that will last long after I have gone. I love the history of old quilts no matter who aor how well made. I like to think what the person was thinking while they stitched, what their life was like. I have 2 old quilts my Grandmother made. They are made from old cloths and just for keeping warm but I love then as if they were prize winning quilts just because they are from her.

I quilt because I "have to" ... it is bringing to fruition the creative side,
exploring new designs, the feel of the fabric, the wonder of new patterns and colors. Why does a singer "sing", or an artist "paint" .... we have to! If we please another person in the process, all the more reason for our efforts.
