Ditto! And every house, no matter how clean, has bugs that crawl about after dark.

I have a friend who washes her quilts, but then irons them before giving them away!

I love the way everything plumps up & besides it has had hands all over it & drapped on the floor while quilting & you can find so nasty little seams you missed.

I want to make sure my quilt is clean, all markings removed and also I like the crinkled vintage look

I prewash all my fabric and quilt on a quilt frame mounted on four boards so not really handling the quilt to much except for the binding. I really don't like to wash before giving away because it looks like it has been used. Just my opinion. No pets whatsoever in my house and no smokers.

I do press them afterwards, but I have not made any really big things in years, mostly crib quilts....
This is REALLY a dumb question: HOW do you press a quilt after it is completed? Once I pressed the binding after it was done and it seems so flat after that.
Be careful with pressing if you use a polyester batt
