Valium can give you unpleasant lasting effects and quilting gives you a pleasant high, that you don't want to lose.

Either one is addicting but at least you have something to show for your time when you quilt!

Valium won't keep you warm on a cold winter's night, but a beautiful quilt will!

How do you think I quit smoking almost 3 years ago now? Quilting and visiting this board......that's how. It will be better than valium too.....you'll see!

Because you can share your "dose" with your friends, without shorting your own "dose".

because you can leave your quilt stuff out laying around without DH having too big a fit about the meds being everywhere except in the med container for that class of drug.

and because you can say I quilt to people openly, but can you say I take Valium as openly? And quilting is more soothing than any medication. I am considering introducing it in our psychiatric ward, and writing a PhD on it - get paid to quilt at work - YAY, reduce peoples need for Meds - a win win I reckon.

I tried to convince my 14 yr old who has anxiety and panic attacks that quilting would greatly reduce his anxiety but he didn't go for it. But I believe it is true, quilting and chocolate.
