Why Why Why?

I'm chair for the charity for our guild and receive a lot of donated fabrics. Some are from people who make cloths and the pieces are weird shaped. Those who do applique also have a lot of weird shaped scraps.
When I first started quilting a lot of my fabrics were scraps from clothing projects.

actually, I have picked up 1-inch scrap strips from the quilt shop floor so I could make tiny Grandmother's Flower Garden. Each piece finishes to about 3/8 inch, have to be sewn by hand and use a 1/8-inch seam. These are for miniatures, doncha know. Everyone doubts my sanity, but I cannot sit with empty hands and sewing those tiny things sometimes is exactly what I need to do. Maybe my sanity should not be in question?

First off I do it because my mom always did that. But if I roll the small pieces in the big pieces then I have them right there rather than dig through the scarp bag.
We all have our way of doing things. Some cut blocks and strips some don't.

I leave mine as cut, have found I may need that little end that is longer than the rest and it just makes it.
I throw away anything shorter than a fat sq.
It has come in handy for me to have 2 -5 inches makes a difference.

I thought you were kidding.....and this was a joke
handing you dark choclate and a glass of red wine,
we have young men and women, in far away lands being shot at......that is something to worry about

If they annoy you too much, send them to me and I will happily take them under my wing. LOLOL I think they are very pretty scraps and I would love to have to deal with all those little pointy parts.

Yep, you may be weird. I keep my scraps with the mother piece and only when the mother is smaller than a 1/4 yard do all the peices go into my scrap stash. By keeping them together I don't have to cut the mother, when I only want an 6 inch square.
