I also have heard from a quilting teacher that you should put at least a little yellow in every quilt. That was probably an exageration but basically true.

around here i see lots and lots of yellow...
and in our little sewing/quilting group we have one lady who has been actively quilting for over 50 years---according to her- it's not a quilt if it doesn't have at least a piece of yellow somewhere---she really loves yellow in quilts- and makes FABULOUS ONES!
    so...
maybe in your neighborhood they do not use yellow???
typed yellow quilts into the search engine- over a hundred pages to look at....
personally- not a yellow person- but have included yellows when they were needed- i'm not quite convinced that every quilt should have a little yellow :)

I always thought that my favorite color was blue, until I looked back at some of the quilts I have doen. Most all of them have some yellow and many of them are predominately yellow. Like you, I do find yellows harder to find, but well worth it, they are such a perfect accent

I love yellows. I find myself drawn to them during the cold dark winters of Minnesota.

I really like yellow, but do not like reds. A good yellow fabric has been hard to find, but recently it is easier. I do add yellow as a sparkle to many of my creations, and I love mt blue and yellow nap quilt! :)

I think some of us avoid yellows because they can easily overpower the other colors. I have often used yellows, but always with a stronger palette unless the yellow itself is very very light. I think yellow is great = such a happy color. I have a bargello quilt I made starting with redorange and ranging to bright yellow - it reminds me of sunsets in west Texas where I grew up.

I'm currently making a quilt for my GD for college. I had her pick the fabrics. She did a super job. I knew she was going to want yellow or orange and that would be a stretch for me. Not my favorite colors. She ended up with a focus fabric with yellow, two shades of blue, lime green on a white background. We are making a D9P and the center square is a bright yellow and that's the one that is cut in four small squares. It pops out in the overall design. The prints are a mod design (younger generation). She has seen some of the blocks and loves it. It's growing on me. I'll try to post pictures when I get it done - hopefully before college starts.

I have a neighbor that is color blind and the only colors he can see are yellow and green. Interesting.

My flower beds are mainly pinks, purples and whites. White to make the other colors pop. In the flower bed clear across the yard I have daffodils (spring) and now have planted big yellow marigolds so they can be seen from the distance.

God put yellow centers in most of the flowers. Must be a good color.
