Smile Will lady luck be with me??

I am so excited!! I have always been intrigued by the 'Slant-O-Matic' 503A Singer. Finally, I found a post on craigslist this week of a 1950's era sewing cabinet in a clean, scandinavian design. It's all white with short tapered legs and shiny silver drawer pulls. It looks spotless. The machine was not featured in the photo, so I took a chance. After several emails back and forth, I finally got the info on the hidden machine. It's a "wonderful Singer 503A with accessories". The asking price is $75. The room where the photo was taken looks very clean and tidy, so I'm hoping the 'Rocketeer' is in good condition as well. Wish me luck!! I'm going to see it Sunday at noon and will let you know how this turns out.

I hope it turns out good for you. That is a great price, and Rocketeers are such fun machines!

I was looking at a Rocketeer on our local online classifieds.

I love the look, but cannot justify another machine right now, nor the expense.

I did however get a wonderful sewing cabinet that will be delivered tomorrow for all of $50.00 including delivery.

Similar to your ad, the seller only had a description and I had to email for photos. I went to see the cabinet on Tuesday, paid and said I would arrange to pick it up on the weekend (I needed to borrow a larger vehicle). The seller's daughter has a dance class near my home on Saturdays and offered to deliver with their truck.

Now to make some room for it.

I'm also madly in love with these machines, so I'm trying to find one myself that's reasonably priced. Still no luck, but I have hope! I've recently decided I want a couple of the vintage machines, so I'm trolling all the CL ads and garage sales to find one ...

Last night I saw a Touch & Sew on CL for FREE and tried to get it but I never got a response and the ad is gone today, so I'm guessing either the owner realized it was worth more than they thought, or someone snatched it before me. I'm sort of sad about it, but I have hope I'll be able to find one of them as well. :-)

I've only seen one in person once, but it was badly damaged in a flood some years back. They look like little spaceships to me and since my girls call me 'the Mothership' I figured I really need to have one!! Will let you know how it turns out - thanks to all for your positive thoughts!!

I'm excited for you too! I just bought one a couple of weekends ago at a garage sale. It doesn't have any scratches on the bed, no chips out of the paint and no dust anywhere. It didn't come in a table as the people were selling the machines and the tables separately. It came with the cams and all the accessories for $20! I just need to get a manual for it.

I got one recently at a garage sale for $5, including the cabinet! I didnt really have room for it, and I have tried it out yet but gosh darn it.. it sure is cute! I love the Rocketeer look!

Well, today is the day I finally get to see the Rocketeer!! The lady finally called me back and we have an 11AM appointment! I am so excited, though I'm trying to contain myself. You just never know what you're going to find. She did say it was an "all metal machine in good condition". I'm hoping her idea and my idea of 'good condition' is equal. I will post later today if I have a new toy to add to my collection!!
