How does the last day (or last Friday night) of every month sound for an 'all night PJ party?' Or you can pick a better night, just let me know. we'll quilt away the night in comfort!

I may be out of the loop for awhile as a big storm is headed our way tonight through tomorrow night with snow & ice, snow is ok,but the ice usually cuts our power off, sometimes for days..I'm hoping not, but preparing for the worst as best as I can. So if you don't hear from me....that's what happened.

I started working on my UFO "Double Delight" last weekend. This pattern is from Bonnie Hunter, but I modified it using EQ7 so that I could cut all the pieces I would need on my AccuQuilt cutter.
Here is a photo of the cutting - there are actually some pieces not shown because I started piecing some of the 9-patches. I also haven't cut the borders yet or the setting triangles - I like to wait on those so I can see the best way to cut them.

I jusrt finished my second project. I had some leftover blocks from a quilt I made last winter. Today I made a tabletopper and a matching hotpad. I like working with these unfinished projects. One more block to make for another quilt that was put away and forgotten. I am on a roll-lol.

OK, the snow & ice is my friend! I finished project #2 today. I did the top quilting, made binding, bound the quilt, made the hanging sleeve & label....washed the quilt in the bath tub (it's a large lap sized wall hanging). Le Jardin is DONE! it has been 1.3 yrs in the making...whew! It's drying in the guest room on card tables. So photos are forth coming in a few days. I'm THRILLED to get that one done. Much learned from that bad boy.....some tips for all as well.
Tips:
I've developed a 'new' quilting term and method.....it's called The Header. It's hardly noticeable, but a big time saver......putting a sleeve on a quilt by machine. I used monofilament thread in the bobbin & cotton on the top, then sew the sleeve on with the clear thread on the outside- quick & easy. I REFUSE to sew one on by hand, so I needed another way....so The Header was birthed today. It's best if the top border is heavily quilted, meandering or stippling...mine wasn't, but it still looks great.
We need tips to quickly get through our projects...so share yours as well.
Now I'm gonna tackle the Mystery Bom tonight....but alas, the weather is warming and I'll be heading to work tomorrow...so snow is no longer my excuse for a quilting marathon!
Blessings,
MaryAnna
