I turn 66 in Jan. HOPE I can retire then, and retiring has been a dream for several years now, lol.

I'm always wishing I could stay home as well but DH always wants to be on the go. He was called out to VT. with FEMA and will be gone for months so now I can get some quilting done :-P

I can't believe the damage in Vermont. I used to live in NH and I was shocked. In NH we had hurricanes but I don't remember Vermont having anything like that.

Use your sick days occasionally to extend a weekend, either Friday or Monday for a "Attitude Adjustment Day", you just tell them you're sick with whatever works for you...they don't consider AAD days to being really sick. I use to do it all the time when I needed some "me time to sew". Thank heavens I got to retire three years ago, but I really think I got more finished when I was working than I do now.

I agree, just because you are home doesn't mean you get to sew all day. Today I took MIL shopping and to the eye Dr. this afternoon. So very little sewing today. I will finish binding a quilt. I pick up kids at school @ 3:30 then we work on homework. Also, every once in a while I clean house and do the laundry. LOL. I need to buy some more needles for my machine but don't want to go to LQS to get them because I know I will buy more fabric!!!

Work gets in the way of all my fun! Seriously, I work the evening shift and seems like that's the only time friends want to get together or events are held that I'd like to go to. I am a homemaker at heart. Canning, quilting, sewing, knitting, crocheting, homeschooling my DDs...that's where my heart is. Unfortunately we need my income to help us stay above water. Sigh...

Well let me tell you that whatever time of life you're in please enjoy it! It goes so fast and pretty soon you'll be looking back and wondering how you got it all done. But then time speeds up when you retire and you're looking at how many years you might have left to do anything. I always wanted to quit work and when I finally did I found out how much I missed having somewhere to go everyday. And Boy do I miss those paychecks!LOL
