Default Wonder Clips - is there a difference between Clover and other brands?

We have a house guest from Germany who likes to sew. She saw the clips in a catalog and we will probably want to order some from Amazon for her to take back with her. However, when I went to Amazon I saw tons of different sellers of wonder clips. The Clover brand is very expensive compared to many of the others. Has anyone purchased both and compared them? I am wondering if Clover is simply re-packaging the same clips made in China, or whether there is really a difference worthy of the more expensive price.

I have both the Clover brand and an off-brand that my cousin sent as a gift. I'm glad she did. Can't find a difference, and will buy the off-brand from now on. Some people complain that the off-brands are harder to use, but I've not had a spit of problem with them!

I don't know if this will help or not, but I just noticed last night that my Clover Wonder Clips have Japan stamped on the end of the clear side of the clips. I've had them for a couple of years and apparently the light hit them just right while I was hand sewing a binding. They also have to lines etched in the clear side that are useful for measuring. I have the little ones and use mainly for binding my quilts.

I have the mini wonder clips (red) and love them. I use them all the time for hand stitching the binding on. Really, I use only about 10 at a time and find I don't need more. I think they are sold in 10/pack so it wouldn't be that expensive to purchase.

Clover is a Japanese brand, so they are stamped "Japan". I have the Clovers and also got some Evergreens (also on Amazon). The Evergreen brand works well for me. They were mid priced. The least expensive brands seem to be the ones with the poor reviews.

I bought 3 packs of the off brand of the Clover clips. I have used the off brand quite often and can't tell any difference in them at all. The packs I bought from Amazon had 50 small one and 20 large ones for $9.99. My youngest DD uses them for her crochet projects and my oldest DD used them in making jewelry.

I got the less expensive ones but I also have some small clamps I got at the home improvement stores fairly inexpensive. They're about the same size. They look almost like a mini metal clothespin.

I have the clover and cheaper clips and when mixed together can't tell the difference. Love using them when sewing on binding.

Same here. Can't tell the difference. Just be aware that the inexpensive brands may take up to 6 weeks to ship.
