    Default Wool batting question

I've decided I want to try some wool batting for the warmth everyone says it has (I usually am a Warm and Natural girl). I've been looking online and I'm trying to decide if I should get Hobbs Heirloom or Quilters Dream. Looks like Quilters dream can be quilted 8" apart and has some kind of polyester thermal bonding process done to it. Then the Hobbs can be quilted 4" apart and has some kind of spray bonding on it. I want a soft drape in my finished quilt and am considering hand quilting it, so I want something that will be easy to needle (or won't gum up my machine needle if I machine quilt it). I'd appreciate the expert advice of any of you who have experience with these since they're so expensive. Thank you SOOO much!

I have used the Hobbs Heirloom for machine quilting and not had any issues I haven't used Quilters Dream wook, but love their other batting. I used the heirloom because I was doing it for someone else and it was the one I could find locally.

I haven't used either brands in any variety. My only comment for you is that my friend uses Quilters Dream 100% cotton exclusively and it does have a wonderful drape. This coming from a W&N girl, myself. If I didn't have a roll of the W&N, I'd be trying the QD on my next quilt.

I use Hobbs Wool because product is good quality, the company is great and gives so much to many good causes. That means a lot to me so I support them.

I have used Hobbs Wool for machine quilting. It is puffier than Hobbs cotton or cotton/poly blend. It gives a nice drape and it is machine washable. I have not used Quilters Dream wool.

I've used both for my quilts. I send them to a LAQ though. But they are so warm. One quilt is all I need to keep me warm. Can't help you with the sewing on them though. But they are very toasty warm.

I can't use any type of wool as I am allergic to it. Good luck!

I have used both and prefer Quilter's Dream just because you don't have to quilt as closely although I usually do. It's very easy to hand quilt through.

Quilter's Dream Wool is beautiful to work with. It has a nice loft without being Puffy like a polyester. I am a longarm quilter and Quilter's Dream batting is the only one I carry. After much research when we started the business I felt it was the best.
