I bought the less expensive "carpet" pad. and I love it, really does make a HUGE difference. as a matter of fact I bought it from a suggested web site that I found here, but of course now I cant find it and surely can't remember the name of the company, but it was 100% wool , 1/2" thick, and they cut any size you want. If anyone knows this company, please let me know, I'd love to have a smaller one to put in my travel bag.

Does anyone have a review of the ecorugpads.com 100% wool pads?
I just went there and purchased a 2ft x 6ft pad for $38. They have 15% promo code on site. I don't need the 2x6 but anything smaller is the same price so I just took advantage of this size. I will cut it up or stack them so its thicker. They are 3/8" instead 1/2".

I have 2 alpaca fleece pieces that are 36 x 44. Would these work the same way. I was going to make a vest but found I itch with any wool.

If the alpaca makes you itch when you wear it, wouldn't it make your hands itch if you had much contact with it as you might while ironing? Otherwise, it might be worth a try.

I have a wool pressing mat and absolutely LOVE it. A friend bought one on Etsy for $35 for a 15" square. She loves hers too. Great for blocks, embroidery & applique. Press blocks RS up and everything else face down. Doesn't crush your applique or embroidery. My blocks don't get shiny spots near the seam or folds either.

Thanks for the link. I ordered the same size. The carpet store here has wool pads but at much higher price. The guy did give me a some left over cuttings about 12 inches which I cut into squares to give to guild members to try. He said the cuttings were from a custom cut and he had no place or use for them. He was surprised I wanted them for ironing pads. He didn't think anyone ironed anymore.
