I think I finally got my husband to ask for scissors when he needs them. A couple days ago he came to me and asked if he could use mine and I asked him "what for" he knows only fabric for my good scissors.

I solved the scissor problem whe the Dollar Store came in. I buy about 3 pairs at a time and lay them around the house so husband uses them because they are in plain sight. Have caught him in the past using "GOOD" scissors to wrap Christmas presents. That has changed too now we use gift bags.

The worst way I have seen mine used is when my son took my brand new, expensive sewing shears and cut off his cast with them! Needless to say, they couldn't cut anything after that!
BTW, he is 32 now and I still won't let him forget!LOL

caught my hubby using mine to separate chicken wings. Told him he should have checked the knife drawer for kitchen set.

Yep!! this my story too... only it was my youngest son when he was 14... he loved to build model airplanes, the ones with the little fuel engines .... he had my Gingher duc-bill applique scissors on his desk to cut wire!!!!!! I nearly lost it... the blade had nicks in it but the shop that sharped it said it was salvageable.... I'm not sure who was about to loose their head, him or Me!!!!

Since my children have tails and no opposing thumbs, this has never been an issue.

When I found my best pair of scissor being used to cut the hard plastic package wrap from a toy package I thought well they are the best scissors. I bought a more of them. Now all the scissors in the house are the good scissors and my scissors are left alone. No more hassles about scissors. Quality scissors are so inexpensive now compared to years ago.

I had a lady pick up my scissors and starting to cut her finger nails. I couldn't believe it. I let her know that she needed to go get her some finger nail clippers. To leave my scissors alone.

I'm one of the guilty kids who used to use Mom's sewing scissors for everything but fabric. She never caught me but knew that someone in our house was doing something they shouldn't. She'd yell when she'd find them somewhere not near the sewing machine. We'd all look at her innocently and say nothing.

It wasn't like she actually ever sewed. So we didn't see any harm of it.
