Today I saw a Singer 185j in an antique store. It was priced at $25 and said "as is". I didn't have the time to check to see if it ran, looks like everything is there, but I think it has the wrong bobbin in it. Its a cute little machine. Do you think its worth it? Looking forward to all replies.

I have one, I paid $40 plus $50 for tune up and $16 for a 1/4' quilting foot. I thought it would run a little more smooth than it does. I thought the guy who did the tuneup would change the belt, original green leather belt. He said to keep it on because it would last a long time more, and fits better than the newer ones.

Thanks, I will PM him. Yes I got your PM, I've been so busy I haven't had time to reply. Then I get on here and start reading, and time flies by and then I have to do something else. Lots to catch up on. I'll be off tomorrow and we can catch up. Now I'm off to work. Miss you
