    any quilt can be tied if thats the method you want to use to finish it---the batting is the (deciding factor) it is important to purchase a batting that says---good for tied quilts---you do not want a batt that needs to be quilted every 2-4". most of that batts with scrim (like warm & natural) are good for tied quilts

    Sounds like you have made a decision. Just wanted to say it is a very nice top and I feel the same way about finishing them. I am sure the maker would appreciate that and know that it will be loved by the recipient.

    Beautiful top! for what it's worth, DH has a quilt his GGM made. A double wedding ring that she tied. He's treasured it for years and the ties do not detract for it's beauty

    When my Mother in Law passed away we found a GFG top she had made over the years which none of us had ever seen! My SIL recognised fabrics from her dresses/blouses etc. I layered the top/lo.loft batting and calico then tied it using old buttons from MILs button box. My SIL now has it on a chair in her bedroom with her childhood Teddy resting on it!!! We then found the magazine pattern she'd followed dated 1973!!
