I joined yahoo groups for the Fun Quilter before I bought one. I read and read and tryed them out at shows. I wanted to go used because of the cost so put out the word on the yahoo groups and got a catch. (Thanks Mickey!) She had it all set up for me to try out when I got there and than made me thread, unthread, put bobbin in and out, etc. I spent an hour or more before committing myself. (Although I went all the way to Ohio from Iowa to buy it!!)

In other words try it out before buying it and if she has a problem with you working on it a little that would be a red flag for sure. Just my thoughts.

    Good luck.

Of course every machine is different but about 6 years ago I bought a used machine. I took in in to be adjusted and cleaned
and sewed on it for over 5 years and had no problem with it. Then last spring I bought a Tin Lizzie and the longest it has ever worked is three weeks at a time. I had dreamed of having a new one with the stitch regulator but it had been nothing but a nightmare.

I purchased my Voyager 17 about 3 years ago and it works like a charm! I bought it from someone who quilted but wanted a bigger frame. Mine came with a stitch regulator, and the hinteberg stretch frame plus a whole bunch of other stuff to go with it. I think it was a good investment. It sure beat the price of a new one! I also was able to try it out on sight and see how it stitched and how smooth it ran. I agree with everyone here. Try it before you buy it

I purchased my Voyager/Stretch frame setup off of Craigslist 2 years ago. I went to the sellers house and spent 2 hours with her playing with it, changing thread, loading the sandwich, etc. I don't regret it! And I saved a bundle!! Good Luck!!
