For the uninjured troops, possibly, but so many of the wounded have been hurt by IED's or roadside bombs. They so often have horrible burns. We have been told that even flannel is uncomfortable for burned skin and so take that into consideration.

I am thinking about using it for a quilt I am making for the soldiers overseas. Thanks for your help.
She loves it! All the squares are scraps from corduroy clothing I made for her about 10 years of her life.

Haven't used corduroy yet, but I often use furnishing material to back my quilts. It gives them extra body and it holds dense quilting very well. The Victorians used velvet in their quilts, so corduroy is fairly similar.
