    I agree that the woold blankets should be washed FIRST. There are some parts of the country that NEED the wool and so much more fun to have a quilt on the outside.

    I have a quilt my grandmother made in the 40s that is now coming apart in places. It was made for use so is not beautiful although she was a wonderful seamstress. I recognize fabric she used in it from pj set she made for me. I can see that she used a wool blanket for batting. I'm sure it had been used before she put into the quilt. Lots of memories.

    I love the memories from old quilts and there are times I wish I had a quilt with wool batting for those cold, cold nights. Have fun making this quilt new again.

    I am planing on making some quilts with the wool blankets as batting for use to use when we go camping. Should be nice in toasty in the cold nights

    Thank you everyone for all your ideas, and input. I was so uncertain at the request. The "birthing" was only an
    idea. Was only trying to figure how to accomplish this goal and still make the quilt look as good as before.
    Thanks again for your comments, Will let you know if this is something that they follow thru with.
