I know when there is a flaw. I would rather not to learn of a flaw through the general posts that we do here. If there is a flaw in something I post, you can tell me in a PM. I really only want serious critiquing from my quilting instructor at my LQS. I have seen such beautiful, wonderful, gorgeous projects on this site ... I don't have any constructive comments to make other than you all are amazing quilters.

I have made quite a few mistakes in my life...some of them have turned into blessings in disguise. The thing that someone calls a mistake I might choose to say I put my own stamp on an already beautiful design! And I would say to that friend, Thank you I did that just for you!

I would not take offense to a PM about a flaw in an unquilted piece, but tend to think the overly critical person has an agenda. Is she jealous, resentful, insecure, OCD? What?! When I was younger, I was much less secure, and much less likely to turn the issue around like that. Guess what: everything I have ever made has been flawed, more or less. To err is human, last I heard.

To look for flaws in my own WIP, I find a peephole from the hardware store very useful. It quickly gives you some perspective. Taking pictures also helps, and looking through a value finder will often show contrast issues that might not be apparent to me until I've been away from the design for awhile.

If it is my quilt I would certainly want to be told; however, if I notice what I think might be an error on another's quilt I would not point it out. Mainly because I would not want to hurt anyone's feelings.

It took me a long time to figure out why I never quite finished anything. whether a quilt, a shed I built or just a piece of the trim on the house I had just painted Then A light came on -- My EX not so DH was super critical -- so -- if it wasn't finished, my inner mind said "don't listen -- it isn't finished"

My grandparents taught me this rule to live by,"If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all". That's how I treat people and that's how I'm teaching my granddaughter to treat other people.

No I do not want to know. The first quilt I made my daughter had a mistake and she noticed it and I did not. When she said something, I did not get upset. If you don't make mistakes, you are not doing anything.

On the night the angels appeared to the shepherds to announce Jesus' birth, some of the shepherds missed the message because they were looking for dust on the angels' wings.

There are people who are called to be flaw finders, i.e., critics. They can't seem to help themselves.

I would never tell anyone about a flaw in his/her quilt, even if I saw it, which is quite unlikely since I usually can't find the flaw when someone points it out.

LOL....I know? Where is the mistake? I feel like I'm looking at one of those "hidden picture" pages that are in kids magazines. I honestly can't see any mistake.

I take pictures of my quilts and study them because that is where you will find the flaws for some reason. I put in a whole row of my sons quilt upside down...and sisn't even notive until the pictures when it was finished being quilted and everything!
If it is an easy fix, yes by all means point it out and leave it up to the maker whether or not they want to fix it:)
As in my case...if it is already quilted and finished...don't bother LOL!
