definitely contact the retailer - you bought it in good faith, they did NOT send it in good faith.

Wow.....do I feel lucky. I just purchased a kit on-line for the very first time from ABC Quilting. The kit is called "Dancing Horses" with fabric by Laurel Burch designing for Clothworks. Not only was the colors perfect, the fabric is absolutely wonderful and the pictures on-line didn't even begin to do justice to the real thing. I cannot wait to get started on this project!!! I had no idea I was even taking a chance when I purchased a kit.

I would definitely call or email them for a refund or replacement. Unless the fine print stated they have the right to exchange the fabrics...

I buy kits that are from a fabric line. I won't buy one from a shop that kits from from whatever is available. They always try to save money by subbing whatever fabric they have that won't sell.
Call the shop and ask for a refund or replacement and tell them why. If they want you to return what you don't want, then ask for a postage paid return label. Good shops will send a replacement immediately and won't ask for any returns. They are the ones that get my money.

it could be worse---you could be in the middle of a project from a magazine & figure out all the pieces you cut & sewed together ARE TOO SHORT b/c they gave you the wrong measurements!
HAPPENS ALL THE TIME!!!!! at least YOU can get some satisfaction!!!

I would be on the phone, protesting. You should get what you pay for.

I would notify them. They need to make it right. It really ticks me off when shops advertise something they don't have or substitue something without letting you know!

    Good luck.

Even if it is only a fat quarter , you didn't get what you were expecting, contact them and see what they say .

A reputable quilt shop or online store will guarantee your satisfaction. If you don't contact them, they won't know that you're dissatisfied.

If they're substituting fabrics, even if it's in their fine print that they can do it, it is absolutely necessary that they color and quality-match with the other fabrics in the kit and with the advertised colors. Just throwing something in there that "sorta" looks like it will work is totally unacceptable.

If they substituted fabrics, another possibility is that whomever was cutting the kit just grabbed the wrong bolt.

Call them up and explain the problem, remembering that a firm but friendly approach always gets the best results. If you don't get satisfaction, well, you know who to tell. :D
