I did this last month. I just carefully unstitch and fixed the problem.

when working on a commisioned quilt years ago l figured out how to remove and replace blocks & patches. fam members were to submit personal blocks to use on their parents 50th anniversary quilt. many didn't. the quilt top went to seattle to the 50th anniversary dinner and the non block makers were a little embarrassed. i had sent muslin blocks for them to draw on. everything returned to me and it really didn't take all that long to remove the blank place holders i had put into the quilt top and insert the newly completed family drawing blocks. it's merely a succession of set in seams. remove the seam from the error seam a little beyond each corner. then pin in place matching your corners that meet and stitch in place. would take you about ten minutes ...20 at the most. it looks like simple white favric in your quilt and that makes it even easier. a print would need all four seams removed, patch flipped & sewn back in. just simple set in corners.

It will take less time to fix it than to decide. Since it hasn't been quilted, it is an easy fix.

OK, done. I can still see it, but I don't think a casual observer would notice the fix.

    Thanks!

Glad you caught it BEFORE you quilted it!

I'd fix it-it would be the first place my eye would be drawn to if I left it!

OUCH!!!!! I've sewed the piece backwards before but not that...........yet. I'm sure I'll do that before long though. Never thought I'd slice my hand with the rotary cutter but I did. Almost sewed my finger on the sewing machine and never could figure out how someone could get their finger under the needle but I almost did so nothing is impossible.

I'd rip it out and sew it in correctly though it might be difficult but you'd be kicking yourself later I'd think.

If you still have fabric, why not applique a square over it? That sounds easiest to me.
